Dr. Lindsay Barth received his podiatric medical degree at Des Moines College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. His surgical podiatric residency was completed at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. President and founder of Next Step Foot & Ankle Centers, Dr. Barth has been practicing podiatric medicine since 1996. He has been board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery since 2000, and is a leader in Advanced Foot and Ankle surgical techniques. Originally from Collinsville, IL, Dr. Douglas Basso is excited to treat patients near his home. Dr. Basso attended Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona for his Podiatric Medical Education. Upon completion, his professional podiatric training was done at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago, IL. He received extensive training in rearfoot and forefoot surgery, wound clinic, and inpatient care during this time. Dr. Basso is a member of The American Podiatric Medical Association, The Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, The American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine, and The American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management. Dr. Ellen Hill Colgan is skilled in the techniques of foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, wound care, and diabetic foot care. Her goal is to get her patients back on their feet as quickly as possible and back to the activities they enjoy. Dr. Colgan completed her Podiatric Medical Training at Des Moines University – College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and her Master of Health Administration – College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. She then completed her surgical residency at SSM DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Colgan enjoys the teaching aspect of medicine and continues to work with the residency program at SSM DePaul. In her spare time, Dr. Colgan enjoys spending time with her husband and Ted, their Labrador, along with her two rescue cats, Gus and Woody. She enjoys all outdoor activities, but especially hiking, biking the Katy Trail, and gardening. She is currently training for a half-marathon coming up this summer. Dr. Christina Hawthorne received her bachelor of science degree in biology with a minor in English at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. She received her medical degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland. Dr. Hawthorne completed a two-year surgical residency in Farmington, MO at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center and served as chief resident during her last year of residency. Dr. Hawthorne was featured in Who’s Who in American Colleges & Universities and was on the National Dean’s List during her last year of college. She is also a member of the Missouri Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Hawthorne is board eligible with the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons. Dr. Lamb completed his three year surgical residency at Forest Park Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. As a board certified foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Lamb is greatly experienced in all areas of podiatric care. Foot & ankle reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, and diabetic limb salvage are just a few of his specialties. Despite Dr. Lamb’s proficiency at surgery, he emphasizes non-surgical treatment when possible. As the medical director of Next Step Foot and Ankle, he strives to give patients the best experience and coordinate the most effective patient care possible. Dr. Krista Nelson is a board certified podiatrist who has been with Nextstep Foot and Ankle Centers since 2012. While valuing up-to-date medical knowledge and surgical skills, Dr. Nelson also believes the ability to really listen to patients and communicate effectively is of utmost importance. Dr. Nelson is an avid runner and has a passion for treating sports-related foot and ankle problems. She also enjoys treating a wide variety of podiatric conditions, including: bunions, flat feet hammertoes, Achilles tendon problems, foot fractures, ingrown toenails, skin disorders and diabetic foot care. She sees patients of all ages: pediatric, adult, and older adult. We welcome Dr. Richard Norlin to NextStep Foot & Ankle Centers treating patients in our Watson Road clinic! Dr. Richard Norlin received his podiatric medical degree at Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL in 1979. He is board certified in Foot and Ankle Orthopedics by the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine since 1994. What sparked Dr. Norlin’s interest to become a Podiatrist was his involvement in high school working as an athletic trainer which peeked his passion for sports medicine. Dr. Norlin enjoys treating routine, geriatric podiatry medicine. He enjoys providing care to decrease or remove foot pain from a patient. Dr. Norlin’s is originally from Molina, IL but now resides in Crestwood, MO. He has been providing care in St. Louis, MO for over 32 years. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and gardening in the spring and summer time.
